Appreciate

appreciate  (Latin) ap- = to  + pretium = price, to set a price, estimate the value of

precious (Latin) pretium = value

you, me, we = Value

Appreciation is recognizing preciousness. And cultivating pleasure. Appreciating is a connective act that requires a direct object recipient, a transitive term that spawns inter-action via inner action. We need an Other to appreciate and be appreciated, to reflect our mutual Value. 

Yet when we are repeatedly unappreciated we can feel worth less than others, comparing ourselves with a glut of reductive suffixes, misconstruing that if only we were prettier, smarter, richer, X-er,  two letters would confer the worthiness we crave.

We overlook and underestimate our Innate Value (which is not contingent on what we do or don’t do), misguided efforts that can leave us spent from trying to earn our keep. Our Value can be beheld and admired, not achieved and acquired. We are Inherent Value, primordially precious;  no better, no worse, and no less special.

We frequently forget to break from belittling beliefs, going broke pricing our Self less than our Inherent Worth. Trauma compounds the split from our priceless Self - severing connection to luminous perception.

Recovering means uncovering belief legacies that discount us the depreciation of worth by those who couldn’t afford to wholly love themselves.

without love lost we imbue paper with worth and deem it currency, currently, not yet agreeing that all human beings are Intrinsically Value-able; capable of valorizing anOther irrespective of their earnings, overcoming the fallacy of monetocracies. 

In fact we are a wealth of wellness! Wholly and holy worth while! If we reconsider the price our parents and ancestors paid for Life to flow to us, we can take it at the cost it comes, live well, honoring them and enriching our lineage. Appreciation is investing interest in gratitude

When we esteem our preciousness the false dichotomy between self-ish and self-less transforms into  Self-Love, free for all. It is a rising, a tide that brings us closer to the shore and core of who we already am
